Ottawa Area Archives
The Archives Committee collects, preserves, and shares the history of Alcoholics Anonymous in the Ottawa area. Our work helps ensure that the experience of those who came before us — meeting minutes, group histories, photographs, recordings, correspondence, and ephemera — remains available to future members so the story of how A.A. grew here is never lost.
Status: Currently inactive. There is no active Archives meeting or location right now. Several members are exploring relaunching Ottawa Area Archives. Contact the Intergroup Chair for more information.
What We Do
- Collect group histories, minutes, founding documents, and other primary records from Ottawa-area A.A. groups and committees
- Catalogue and safely store physical and digital materials
- Make archived material accessible to members and researchers while protecting anonymity
- Host occasional events — archives displays, oral-history nights, and workshops — that share our local history
- Coordinate with the Area 83 Archives Committee and the General Service Office archives in New York
Donate Materials
If you have A.A. materials — meeting minutes, anniversaries, photos, recordings, newsletters, correspondence, group histories, or anything else — the committee would love to hear from you. Practical guidance for A.A. archivists at every level — collecting, processing, storing, and providing access to records. Includes shared experience on physical and digital preservation, anonymity considerations, and starting or running an archives committee.
