Our Primary Purpose

November 2020

Highlights from the November 2020 Issue:

This issue explores the emergence of a “new” A.A., as groups begin experimenting with both online and in-person formats. A feature on the Sunday Night Big Book Study Group includes perspectives from members like Steve W, highlighting the challenges of reopening while maintaining virtual meetings and pointing toward a more flexible, hybrid future.

The editorial reflects on the pandemic through the lens of Step Three, emphasizing acceptance, uncertainty, and the importance of being honest, open, and willing. It also considers how groups can remain focused on their primary purpose while adapting to changing conditions and continuing to support newcomers.

A personal story by Colette Z shares how A.A. tools, slogans, and the Steps provide stability during uncertainty. The issue also introduces a Creative Corner featuring member contributions such as photography by Bruce M, includes archives content on Ottawa A.A. history, and provides updates on Intergroup elections and planning for a virtual Alkathon.
