Our Primary Purpose

May 2026

Highlights from the May 2026 Issue:

This issue focuses on service, traditions, and preserving A.A. history. A major feature is the upcoming Archives Workshop, “Preserving Our Shared History,” encouraging members to learn more about local A.A. history and the role of archives in carrying the message forward.

In “Tradition and Tolerance: Reflections on Closing with the Lord’s Prayer — Part VI”, Stephan P. explores how meeting practices and customs should always support A.A.’s primary purpose of helping the still-suffering alcoholic.

Another feature, “The Gift of Guidance: Understanding the Role of a Service Sponsor in Alcoholics Anonymous”, examines the importance of mentorship in service and how experienced trusted servants help newer members become involved in A.A. service work.

The issue also includes announcements for Ottawa Service Day 2026, the Vanier Round-Up, the Eastern Ontario Fall Conference, and several Intergroup service opportunities, including Telephone Answering Service and 12-Step volunteering.
