January 2021
Highlights from the January 2021 Issue:
This issue centres on how A.A. adapted during the pandemic, with a feature story following Mike B and how Telephone Answering Service (TAS) and 12-Step calls helped bring him back to sobriety. The article highlights the shift from in-person outreach to Zoom-based connections, and how, for some newcomers, the virtual format created a sense of comfort that made it easier to listen, stay, and begin recovery.
An accompanying piece explores the experience of 12-Step volunteers, including Geraldine H, emphasizing humility, patience, and the understanding that each person comes to sobriety in their own time. The message reinforces that members carry the message, not the person, and that service opportunities like TAS remain vital.
The editorial, “Change we must!”, reflects on the lessons of 2020 and encourages members to take action in 2021 through service, sponsorship, and participation. Additional content includes coverage of the successful virtual Alkathon organized by Gene M and the introduction of new newsletter editor Dawn-Marie M, who shares her background in service and commitment to the fellowship.
