This Alkathon Edition focuses on the holiday season in recovery, highlighting service, gratitude, and the importance of connection during a time that can be challenging for many. The issue explores both the history and spirit of Alkathon, emphasizing its role as a welcoming, sober space for anyone in need.

“Sober Holidays Survival Guide” by Natalie F. offers practical tools and personal insight for navigating the holidays sober, sharing strategies drawn from experience and community support.

“Tis Was Days Before Christmas” by Lilly W. presents a reflective poem on staying sober through the season, blending honesty, hope, and the message of recovery.

“The Season of Gratitude” by Gord G. explores the shift from judgment to gratitude, emphasizing acceptance, humility, and the importance of focusing on life itself rather than personal preferences.

“Remembering Jen” by Jason M. reflects on friendship, service, and loss in the fellowship, honouring the lasting impact of members who help shape recovery journeys.

The issue also introduces a new series, “Tradition and Tolerance” by Stephan P., which begins an exploration of meeting practices such as the use of the Lord’s Prayer, encouraging thoughtful reflection on inclusivity and unity.

“The Alkathon Initiators” by Ozzie L. looks back at the origins of Alkathon, reminding members of its primary purpose: reaching the still-suffering alcoholic, especially those most in need during the holidays.

Service remains a central theme throughout, with opportunities highlighted for the Telephone Answering Service and other Intergroup roles.

Upcoming events include Alkathon 2025 and the Ottawa Spring Conference, inviting members to connect, serve, and carry the message through the holiday season and into the new year.
