August 2021
Highlights from the August 2021 Issue:
This issue highlights the growing role of technology in A.A. and how it supports recovery. The feature article, “Getting sober: One transaction at a time: How one of us has helped countless suffering alcoholics”, profiles Carolyn O and her work as Ottawa Intergroup Webmaster. It emphasizes how digital tools—meeting lists, online ordering, and communication systems—have become essential in connecting members, especially during the pandemic.
The editorial, “Everyone is a User” by Jeff F, encourages members to engage with technology regardless of their technical background, arguing that user feedback is essential to improving digital experiences within A.A. It also promotes participation in the National A.A. Technology Workshop (NAATW), reinforcing the idea that technology is now part of carrying the message.
Additional content highlights the rapid pivot to online meetings in March 2020 (page 5), the expansion of A.A.’s digital presence (including YouTube and social media), and the importance of accessibility and user experience in reaching newcomers.
